Vale Furnishers started life in 1960 when Roy and Violet Chandler opened a furniture business in a newly built parade in Ash Vale. Offering furniture and carpet, they sold goods mainly sourced from British suppliers. At the age of 16, their son Alan joined the company to help run the shop, and business started to expand as his eye for retail shone through. The shop next door was bought, doubling the size of the showroom, and a few years later the flats upstairs were converted too. less
